Chris Freid was born in Paterson, New Jersey, and is a lifelong resident of Passaic County. He received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, and received his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut.
After a judicial clerkship in the Passaic County Superior Court, Chris served as an assistant prosecutor in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, where he handled domestic violence cases. In November 1999, he began service as an assistant prosecutor in the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. In that office, he was a member of the Special Victims Unit beginning in early 2000, where he participated in numerous investigations and trials involving cases of child sexual abuse, infant homicide, physical abuse, and neglect. In January 2014, he assumed the role as supervisor of the Special Victims Unit and was promoted to Chief Assistant Prosecutor in December 2015. Chris retired from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office in October 2022 and is currently a criminal defense attorney.
Education, Memberships & More
Chris has been an adjunct faculty member at Montclair State University since 2005; is a faculty member of Child First/Finding Words-New Jersey forensic interview protocol since 2006; and is a member of the Passaic County Bar Association. He enjoys writing and performing music, exercising, and meditating in his free time.
